Our varied social programme is designed to keep you practising your growing English skills even when your lessons have finished for the day. The programme, which can be customised and will be accompanied by your teachers, will include optional sporting, leisure and cultural events in the evenings and at the weekend to help you experience Cambridge life, and improve your conversational English.
Activities on offer may include the following:
- A visit to Evensong sung by the world famous King’s College Chapel Choir
- A dinner party or traditional English cream tea
- Punting: a unique boating experience on the river Cam, offering stunning views of the University buildings
- Sports: tennis, cycling or golf
- Real Tennis (the predecessor to Lawn Tennis – Cambridge has one of the few courts in the world)
- A guided tour of University Colleges
- Restaurant night
- A visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum
- Cinema or theatre visits
- Concerts, classical or pop
- Pub/Night club visits or karaoke evenings
- Shopping and free time
- A visit to the Botanic Gardens
- A visit to Ely Cathedral
- A trip to the nearby village of Granchester, home of the World War One poet, Rupert Brooke
Please note: all events are included in the course fees.
On the final Friday of the course we will arrange a specially customised social programme for you and your group, helping you to make the very most of your final day in this beautiful city. The day will finish with a very enjoyable wine tasting evening hosted by Jeremy Williams, former Head of the Cambridge University Wine Society.
